  • What Are Desilter and Desander

    Desilter and desander are used to process large volumes of drilling fluid to remove abrasive sands and silts that shale shakers cannot remove.

    KOSUN’s desilting and desanding hydrocyclones are made from high density abrasion resistant polyurethane. The unique internal manifold design minimises the back pressure on hydrocyclones and maximises the solids removal. Fine tuning is achieved through adjustable orifice openings at the discharge point on the cone.

    Both desilter and desander are available in a large range of configurations including standing alone, over a shaker as a mud cleaner or packaged with a supply pump as a mobile desilting unit.     LSP Submersible Slurry Pump is one of the key equipment in water treatment process. This series of product applies to circumstances that require mixing and flow of solid-liquid two-phase flow and solid-liquid-gas three-phase flow homogeneity during biochemical process.

    2. Working Conditions of KOSUN Oilfield Drilling Submersible Slurry Pump 

        Maximum medium temperature cannot exceed 40oC;

        Medium pH is within 5-9;

        Liquid density cannot exceed 1150kg/m³;

        Submersible depth cannot exceed 20m for operation;

        Entanglement and flotage are not allowed in the medium.

        The pump should be in underwater completely for operation. Operation in flammable and explosive or corrosive liquid is not allowed!

  • Common Ways to Adjust Water-based Mud Density

    READ: Water-based mud is a generic term of versatile circulating liquids satisfying different drilling requirements in exploration efforts. It is proper to apply solids control system against harmful solids and to get down nud density by input of additives or lower-density mud from identical system, etc.

    Water-based mud is a generic term of versatile circulating liquids satisfying different drilling requirements in exploration efforts. It plays a leading role in actual oil drilling operations. In terms of composition, it is a multi-phase dispersed system including bentonite, additives, weighting materials, brine and drill cuttings. In terms of fluid media, it is a drilling fluids with water as continuous fluid media. Water -based mud extends to deep well drilling mud, dispersed drilling mud, calcified drilling mud, brine drilling mud, non-dispersed drilling mud and MMH drilling mud.

    Ways to boost its density:

    1. It is better to remove coarse solids and keep bentonite and solid content within designed limits first.

    2. It is better to evenly inject weighting materials with weighting device along the cycle whose density is best kept between 0.01g/cm3 and 0.04 g/cm3(unless confronted with kick and spill).

    3. It is better to improve mud’s lubricating property with proper amount of lubricant when high-density drilling mud are made denser.

    4. After all, it is better to adjust mud properties within designed limits.

    Adjustment of Water-based Mud Density:

    1. Based on actual operations, it is proper to apply solids control system against harmful solids and to get down nud density by input of additives or lower-density mud from identical system, etc.

    2. It is better to add weighting materials and proportional weighted fluids for boost of mud density. The weighting materials can be barite, iron ore, limestone powder, and so on.

  • Advantages of Three-in-one Mud Cleaner

    READ: Three-in-one mud cleaner, a combination of desander, desilter and high efficient shale shaker, can further separate the smaller solid particles left in the mud after primary treatment in shale shaker for a better treatment in the following equipment.

    I. Description of Three-in-one Mud Cleaner’s Functions:

    Three-in-one mud cleaner, a combination of desander, desilter and high efficient shale shaker, can further separate the smaller solid particles left in the mud after primary treatment in shale shaker for a better treatment in the following equipment. MD Mud Cleaner can serve as independent equipment, or as spare equipment in parallel with first-stage solids control equipment–shale shaker by mere application of its underflow shaker.

    Drilling fluids enters from the mud compartment under vacuum degasser into desander via the force of its pump, flows into the compartment under desander after treatment, accesses desilter by mud pump and then goes for further treatment in decanter centrifuge through spillway trough afterwards.

    II. Advantages and Features of KOSUN’s Products:

    1. Hydrocyclones in desander and desilter are both made of wearable materials like PU, high-chromium cast iron or ceramics.

    2. Desander is flexible to work with 1-3 pieces of 10" or 12" cones, each of which has a capacity between 100-120GPM, and is capable to address solids from 45-74μm. While desilter is flexible to work with 8, 10, 12, 16 or 20 pieces of 4" or 5" cones and is capable to segregate solids between 10-44μm.

    3. Angle of the sieve beds can be adjusted manually when it is rolling.

    4. Screens are fixed by hooks for the convenience of replacement.

    5. Compared with single desander or desilter, it effectively saves time and improves treating efficiency.
