    According to the Development Report of China Environmental Protection Industry (2018) issued by China Association of Environmental Protection Industry (CAEPI), the total operating income of China's environmental protection industry is expected to exceed CNY two trillion in 2020.     At the 20th China IE expo held in April 2019, there were 2,047 exhibitors, an increase of 17% over 2018.   • The function of tailings dry discharge in sludge treatment process

    The first stage is sludge concentration to preliminarily reduce the volume of sludge;
     
    The second stage is sludge digestion to decompose the organic matter in the sludge;
     
    The third stage is sludge dewatering to further reduce the volume of sludge;
     
    The fourth stage is sludge disposal to treat the final sludge by some means.
     
    The above typical sludge treatment process can achieve the reduction, stabilization, harmlessness and recycling of sludge after treatment.


     
    (1) Reduction: Because the sludge has high water content with large volume and fluidity. After the above process, the sludge volume is reduced to one-tenth of its original volume, and its state is converted from liquid into solid, which is convenient for transportation and consumption.
     
    (2) Stabilization: The content of organic matter in the sludge is very high, which is highly prone to decomposition and produces foul odor. After the digestion of the above process, some of the easily spoiled organic matters are decomposed and transformed, and the malodor is greatly reduced, which is convenient for transportation and disposal.


     
    (3) Harmlessness: The sludge, especially the primary sludge, contains a large number of pathogenic bacteria, parasitic eggs and viruses, which are easy to cause widespread spread of infectious diseases. Through the digestion stage in the above process, most of the eggs, pathogens and viruses can be killed, and the hygienic indicators of the sludge are greatly improved.
     
    (4) Recycling: Sludge is a resource that contains a lot of heat, and its calorific value is between 10,000 and 15,000 kJ/kg (dried sludge), higher than coal and coke. In addition, the sludge is also rich in NPK, which is an organic fertilizer with high fertilizer efficiency. Through the digestion stage in the above process, the organic matter can be converted into biogas, and the heat can be utilized, and the fertilizer efficiency can be further enhanced.

The methods for early-stage treatment of mud are landfill, natural drying, etc. These relatively primitive methods are costly and inefficient, far from meeting the growing demand for mud treatment, and the mud has become a problem that plagues the normal construction of the project. Therefore, in recent years, KOSUN has introduced a new process of concentration, dosing, screw extrusion and gravity separation on the basis of mud dewatering and drying treatment.

Whether it is more sand in the mud or more clay, the piling mud dewatering machine can be applied. Generally, the amount of mud generated during the piling process is relatively large. This piling mud dewatering machine can just meet such a large amount of sewage. The large-capacity piling mud treatment equipment can continuously run for 24 hours each day, which can separate mud while being fed, and the separation is fast and efficient. The running cost of the equipment is relatively low, which can save a lot of operating costs for the piling project. Through the treatment equipment, the mud becomes filter cake, which lowers the difficulty in transportation and reduces the transportation volume.

  • Solvent extraction method for oil sludge treatment

    Solvent extraction is an effective technique for treating oily sludge with multiple sediments, small particles and oil content of 10%-20%. The process utilizes an extractant to dissolve the oily sludge. After being stirred and centrifuged, most of the organic matter and oil are extracted from the mud by the extractant; then the extract is recovered for distillation, the solvent is separated from the mixture for recycling, and the oil is used for refining.
     
    Solvent extraction is generally carried out at room temperature. The larger the solvent ratio, the better the extraction effect, but when the solvent ratio is large, the extraction equipment will have a larger load and a relatively larger energy consumption. After the extracted oily sludge is distilled, the heavy oil in the oily sludge can be effectively removed, and the oil removal rate can reach above 90%. Due to the high cost, the extraction method has not been applied to oily sludge treatment in refineries, and an extractant of a high performance-price ratio has become the key to the development of this technology.


     
    The process experiment uses chloroform solvent to extract and steam to distill oily sludge. The dewatered oily sludge is naturally dried, from which sundries are removed, and then is pulverized. The sludge is dissolved with chloroform, and then use steam to distill and deoil at 320-480°C under a pressure of 0.2MPa. The experimental results show that when the oily sludge is extracted by adding 3 times of extraction solvent, and then is distilled for 45min as per the ratio of 1g oily sludge to 0.5ml water at 400°C, the deoiling rate is up to 80-90%.

  • Sludge disposal industry breaking into countdown

    From the additions of sewage treatment → no need of treatment, direct landfilling to the concomitant of sewage treatment → needing harmless and resource disposal, the secondary pollution of sludge gradually attracts the attention of the environmental protection industry. Moreover, due to the large amount of stock, the market for the sludge treatment has been rising in recent years.
     
    Although there are also many voices pointing out that the “deficiency fire” in the sludge treatment market is too vigorous, it cannot be denied that the background of policy support is favorable to industrial development, and we must also carefully review the technological changes that bring a noticeable driving force in accelerating the sludge treatment industry on track.


     
    At present, the technical process for sludge disposal is spreading everywhere, and it is especially important for how to improve the disposal efficiency as much as possible, and meet the disposal needs under the requirements of harmlessness and resource utilization.
     
    With the upgrading of the sewage treatment plant, the following methods have been derived from sludge disposal: coupled waste incineration, co-treatment of cement kiln, and participation in soil remediation. The technical process has broken through the bottleneck, and the market scale is already on the eve of the outburst.
     
    The conversion from "deficiency fire" to practical countermeasures represents the general trend. The speedy entry of capital will bring more challenges. How to seize the opportunity and preemptively occupy the highland still needs technology-oriented enterprises to make a forward-looking layout.
