Mud Zero Discharge Equipment is the key to Drilling Waste Treatment
Oct 24, 2022
The key to the drilling waste treatment is Mud Zero Discharge. It is the result of the improvement of the drilling process. It replaces the traditional mud pool, reduces the pollution of the drilling environment and improves the environmental protection. At present, the Mud Zero Discharge including water-based mud and oil-based mud. The two methods of Mud Zero Discharge are determined according to the mud treatment system adopted by the drilling.
Mud (drilling fluid), which is used to lubricate the drill bit, cement the well wall and cool down during the drilling process. In the whole drilling process, mud is of great significance in order to reduce drilling accidents and improve drilling efficiency. Generally, water-based mud systems and oil-based mud systems are mainly used in drilling sites. When matched with the mud system, there is a distinction between oil-based mud Mud Zero Discharge and water-based mud Mud Zero Discharge.
The failure of oil-based Mud Zero Discharge is mainly for directional wells and ultra-deep wells. Directional wells and ultra-deep wells require an oil-based mud system to prepare mud. Oil-based mud contains expensive diesel or white oil. Drill cuttings still contain oily mud. If they are not treated with mud, they will cause mud waste and increase drilling costs.
Water-based Mud Zero Discharge is mainly for shallow wells. Water-based mud is mainly prepared by adding chemicals or industrial salt to soil. The solid control system adopts water-based mud drilling system. The drilling waste generated by drilling system also contains effective mud. Treatment will also result in waste of mud, which needs to be recycled without the mud falling to the ground.
The Mud Zero Discharge through the secondary filtration, separation and recovery of drilling waste, which directly saves a lot of drilling mud, especially oil-based mud. Therefore, it is the key equipment and system in drilling solids control and drilling waste treatment that the mud does not fall.
