China Begins to Seriously Fight Pollution
Oct 30, 2013
Chinese people have witnessed a dozen of smoggy days after stepping into a new year. Chinese government finally began to take serious measures to fight against the “pollution monster”.
In the recent years, China has been claiming more recognition and reputation as an emerging economy, whose wing-footed development truly stunned its neighbors and some century-old world dominants. However, its speed is too fast to allow itself a stop to sometimes have a look at how the landscape has transformed alongside.
From who-knows-what time, the air we inhale and exhale has started to contain more elements which we call dust or sand in its molecular structure. People has felt it more and more difficult to breath with such. Besides, the rivers turned foul and filthy too without much possibility to see to its bottom as before, leading to an everyday occurrence of horrible sight of dead fish bodies floating along with the dirty foams on the river surface. What is more, the installed tags in gated communities no longer produce any crystal-clean water but some yellowish mixture of liquid and sand.
Discovery of “Cancer Villages” even deepened people’s fear.
Therefore, Chinese government decided to set up a network to monitor air pollution nationwide in 17 provinces. Some experts even had suspicions that kitchen cooking should also be blamed for the emission of PM2.5 into air and called for Beijing citizens to improve on that.
In September, Beijing unveiled a five-year air pollution control plan in which the city decided to fine any violator of the rule above 1 million yuan.
The industrial factories and some oil companies are also doing their bits. Take a solids control manufacturing company in Xi’an as an example. Xi'an KOSUN Machinery Co., Ltd. was established by Mr. Geng Zhonghou after Premier Deng Xiaoping made the speech in his South China tour. It has launched a new set of environmental solutions by integration of experience accumulated in oil industry, several phases of grueling development and consistent research in advanced technologies.
This solution is able to reduce the waste at its source by using solids control equipment to purify mud and separate solids at the source; dewatering the discharged waste to minimize its water content, conduct water treatment and recycling; utilizing Hi-G shale shaker and vertical cuttings dryer for further dewatering and solid-liquid separation to minimize the waste discharge; and applying solidification, biodegradation, thermal desorption and cuttings reinjection to the discharged waste for a reasonable and effective treatment on the drilling waste.
